Commissioned and premiered by the Cantate Chamber Singers (Gisèle Becker) in 2006, this three-part wedding oratorio tells a story: courtship, wedding, and wedding-night/shivaree. In celebrating the universality of marriage, texts are drawn from a wide variety of cultures and time periods.

Program Notes

Song to the Stars, for children’s choir and piano, sets my original text. A lonely child leaves his unhappy home at night and talks to the stars.

The Indianapolis Children’s Choir, Henry Leck, conductor, premiered the work, and it has since been performed and recorded by many choirs.
